 Young Artists Series

About the Series

The Jesse Smith Library's Young Artists Series is designed to provide a showcase for the talents of Burrillville's middle- and high school- age youth.

Besides providing display space to encourage and promote talented young Burrillville artists, the library is also hosting events that will sometimes focus on an individual’s work and at other times will include a variety of media and participants.

For information on who is eligible and how works can be submitted for consideration, please see below.

How Artists Can Participate
Submitting Works for Consideration

ELIGIBILITY: All artists must be Burrillville residents of middle school or high school age. This program is open to all public, private, and home-schooled students.

MEDIA: Pen & ink, oil, pastels, charcoal, sculpture, pottery, woodworking, cartoons, fashion design, graphic design, photography— whatever your artistic medium is, it is eligible for consideration.

SUBMISSIONS: To have your art considered for inclusion in the Series, applicants must submit photographs of up to 5 examples of their work to the Library. The photos may be in the form of printed hard copies or files saved on a disc, and the photos or disc— clearly labled with the artist's information— may either be hand-delivered or mailed to 100 Tinkham Lane Harrisville, RI 02830. Electronic submissions will not be accepted. Please note on the envelope that the contents are submissions to the Young Artists Series.

All work submitted will be reviewed by a panel of judges, and those artists whose work is selected for display will be contacted to make arrangements for display. In case of a tie, preference will be given to any artist who is a senior because a senior will be ineligible for this program in the future.
