 Library Murals

The Children's Department is proud to display two beautiful murals designed and executed by artist Yetti Frenkel.

Four Seasons on the Clear River by Yetti Frenkel

"Four Season on the Clear River" was completed in 2009 thanks to a grant from Ocean State Power Community Foundation. It depicts the plants and animals you are likely to see out, in, and near the Clear River flowing behind our library building. Located in the Early Reader's Room, it is in a perfect location to view both the mural and the river at once.

The Mill on the Clear River by Yetti Frenkel

Our second mural, completed in May of 2011, was funded by grants from the Rhode Island Council for the Arts, the June Rockwell Levy Foundation, and the Friends of the Jesse Smith Library. "Mill on the Clear River," which hangs in the Juvenile Room, depicts the history of the mill that once stood where our library stands today. See both the past and the present with the mural's depiction of the waterfall, and the view out the windows next to it.

The pictures above don't do these murals justice, so the next time you're in the library, be sure to stop by the Children's Department and see for yourself what beautiful pieces of art our murals are.
