Ocean State Power
Burrillville Scholarship Foundation

Each year, the TransCanada–Ocean State Power/Burrillville Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships totalling $50,000 to graduating high school students. The Scholarship Committee encourages all eligible students who plan to continue their educations beyond high school to apply for these awards.

The scholarships are available to students who are residents of the Town of Burrillville during Senior Year of High School, who have one year of Town residency prior to application for the scholarship, and who meet other qualifying criteria.

There are three types of scholarships available, with single awards ranging as high as $10,000.

Levy Memorial Scholarship

Every year, the Levy Memorial Scholarship awards two scholarships of $7500 per year for four years to a graduating Burrillville High School senior.

To qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must be a resident of the Town of Burrillville, must have been accepted at an accredited 4 year college or university, be a member of the current BHS graduating class, and demonstrate both achievement and need. Other factors may also be taken into consideration by the Scholarship Committee.

Zahn Family
Burrillville Community Service Scholarship

Every year, the Zahn Family Burrillville Community Service Scholarship awards at least one $500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior at Burrillville High School.

To qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must have completed community service during their last three years at Burrillville High School, and meet other qualifications.

Alice M. Remington Scholarship

This scholarship goes to the Burrillville High School senior with the highest Mathematics GPA over the 4 years of high school.

Burrillville Lions Club Scholarship

Eligibility: Applicant must be a resident of the Town of Burrillville during senior year of high school, and intending to pursue post-secondary education at an accredited institution.

Applications are available at the Town of Burrillville Town Clerk's Office, Treasurer's Office, High School Guidance Office or download an application.

 


Norman H. Mainville Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a Burrillville High School student on the basis of scholastic ability, character, and teachers' and work/volunteer supervisors' recommendations.

Elegibility: Student must have received formal acceptance to a four-year college, a four-year nursing school, a three-year nursing program, a two-year technical school, a junior college, or any other accredited school of higher education.

Cox Communications' Scholarship Program

This scholarship is designed to recognize exemplary students interested in the field of communications. $2000 is awarded annually to eight graduating seniors from Rhode Island and Connecticut. High school seniors who meet the qualifications for academic excellence, community involvement, and who have a desire to pursue a course of study in communications, technology, telecommunications or engineering, and who attend school in or live in a Cox service area, are eligible.

Applications are accepted during January and February of each year.

 


Rhode Island SPCA Lewis Scholarships

RISPCA will award $1,000 each to two graduating seniors.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a graduating senior who is a Rhode Island resident and currently enrolled in a Rhode Island high school
  • Must have applied to at least one four-year, accredited college or university
  • Must have maintained an overall B average or better
  • Must demonstrate significant contribution to animal welfare, humane education, etc.
  • Must demonstrate personally overcoming difficulty, hardship, discrimination, etc.
